On May 2, Lincoln's funeral train arrived in Chicago just north of
the 12th Street Station where a Gothic funeral arch had been erected.
A procession of dignitaries, including Illinois Senator Lyman Trumbull
and black abolitionist John Jones, accompanied the horse-drawn hearse
as it made its way to the Chicago Court House.
The next day, at least 125,000 people paid their last respects to
the President as he lay-in-state until 8pm.
