"The Burial of Latanè," was the most popular image of The Lost Cause.

Originally a painting by William D. Washington, the harmonious scene depicts a group of valiant Southern women and loyal slaves burying William D. Latanè, a young Confederate hero, in a plantation cemetery far from home.
