Lee's Surrender!, 1865
    On April 9, 1865, Confederate general Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant at the home of Wilmer McLean in the small town of Appomattox Court House, Virginia. News of the surrender traveled quickly via telegraph and newspaper.
