Materials purchased at the 1865 Chicago sanitary fair

A diorama depicting white and black children playing together and whimsical potholders express hope for a better life for former slaves, one of the central themes of Chicago's second fair. The bisque doll came with an elaborate wardrobe, accessories and a traveling trunk.
