Annotation: Aaron Douglas created three illustrations for three of James Weldon Johnson’s poems from his book entitled God’s Trombones: Seven Negro Sermons in Verse. One of the paintings, The Creation, was inspired by the Book of Genesis and depicts the first man standing on a mountain, with a plant and a stream of water nearby, and a rainbow in the sky.
