Abraham Lincoln, 1864
This image of Lincoln was taken a few days before his fifty-fifth birthday by Anthony Berger, Mathew Brady's partner. Lincoln's son, Robert, considered it to be "the most satisfactory likeness" of his father; an engraved version of it appears on the five-dollar bill.
