Annotation: A doffer works in the spinning room of a cotton mill, mainly replacing bobbins that are full with empty ones. Photographer Lewis Wickes Hine was interested in social reform and used his photography to promote his cause. Through his photography, he documented immigrants on Ellis Island and the abuses of child labor.
