Annotation: After the first atomic bomb was developed, research was conducted to expand nuclear capabilities to short-range delivery systems. Investigations used weapons such as landmines, torpedoes, and artillery shells as the mode of delivery. This photograph shows the first atomic artillery shell fired from an Army artillery gun.
