Annotation: This painting depicts the story of the famous Mexican criminal, Bruno Martinez, who belonged to a gang called 'La Profesa'. In 1892, the gang robbed a Mexico City jeweler. After killing the jeweler, Martinez was sentenced to Belen prison and was executed shortly thereafter.

The artist Jose Guadalupe Posada, known as the father of Mexican printmaking, was born in Aguascalientes in 1852. In 1888, Posada moved to Mexico City and became the chief artist for Antonio Vanegas Arroyo, a prominent publisher of such illustrated literature as broadsides, gazettes, song books, and chapbooks.
