Annotation: The trial and subsequent conviction of nine teenage boys for the rape of two white women brought international attention to the town of Scottsboro, Alabama in the 1930's. The case inspired thousands of letters of protest, and inspired the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
