This quote by Do-Yun Yoon was taken from Ronald Takaki's book Strangers from a Different Shore. During the early 1800s many Asian Americans had come searching for a better life but instead discovered there was a lack of opportunity.
If we wanted to rent land, it had to be in a child’s name that was born in this country — a citizen. It was impossible as a foreigner.
