 Annotation: Although Klan participation during the Depression had dwindled to just a few thousand, it still remained active. Then, in 1940, an organization partly financed by the Nazi Germany party (the German American Bund) joined with Klan members, attempting to ignite its resurgence. However, after the U.S. entered World War II, Klan activity had greatly decreased.
